• As part of 'ALL IN', together with over 50 Australian retailers we have have donated $780,000.
• On hearing charities were having to turn away donations due to lack of storage, we set up Bushfire Relief Drop-off Hubs at our Sydney HQ and Western Sydney fulfilment centre, accepting, and providing storage for, donations of much-needed essentials.
• Since planning our shoots for 2020, bushfires have devastated the lives of many and destroyed over 5 million hectares of Australian land. It’s our duty as an Australian retailer to do what we can to make a difference to communities affected by the bushfire crisis. So we have changed our plans – all of them. Find out more below.
For the next six months, our campaigns and stories will be shot and told in bushfire affected areas.
We’re headed to Kangaroo Island, led by our friends – and the brains behind #BookThemOut – South Australian Tourism. Next, we’re heading to the South Coast of NSW – to uncover a holiday destination close to our own home.
We will shine a light on their stories but also #SpendWithThem (a phrase we have borrowed from the ever-inspiring Turia Pitt). We will book local accommodation, eat in local restaurants and make use of local suppliers, in the hope you’ll do the same (for inspiration, stay tuned to see our destination guides).
We are working closely with our charity partner, Thread Together, to help provide targeted urgent clothing items for affected communities, as well as provide additional volunteers and on-going financial support.
They have driven countless kilometres, spent many hours setting up clothing hubs and working tirelessly to clothe bushfire victims, many of whom left their homes with only the clothes on their backs.
Right now, they need cash to keep their support to fire-affected victims going. Cash for petrol in their vans, for staff on the ground, and for rent in the pop-up locations they have established, supporting those communities worst hit.
The Salvation Army offers a range of services and assistance measures to help people who have been impacted by bushfires including financial assistance, emotional wellbeing and support services and Information, referrals and advice.
Via our Giving Made Easy initiative, we have partnered with Salvos stores and Australia Post to provide you with pre-paid postage labels and donate your pre-loved clothes. With these Salvos stores will raise money for ongoing bushfire relief and other community support programs.
Charities have been inundated with donations and are at capacity to manage storage and distribution of these goods. The bushfire crisis, though, continues and the need for new non-perishable and wildlife care items will stretch far beyond the donations already received. In an effort to help provide long-term support for the recovery road ahead, we have set up donation hubs at our Sydney CBD HQ and South West Sydney Fulfilment Centre to collect items on behalf of a number of charity organisations.
We are distributing to charity organisations when needed in partnership with our logistics partners and are working closely with these charities to help manage their changing requirements so that we can provide ongoing support for those in need – at the moment we are collecting items on behalf of Wildcare, Anglicare, Vinnies, Blaze Aid and Givit.

All donated items must be new and sealed. We are unable to accept items that aren’t outlined on this list.
• Food: good quality tinned food and meals (with ring pulls), noodles, pasta, rice, long-life milk and cereal, muesli bars and snacks, baby food and formula, pet food (for animals)
• Toiletries: Lip balm, deodorant, soap and body wash, shampoo and conditioner, feminine hygiene items
• Medical: First aid kits and band aids, Medi-Vet wraps (for animals), cohesive elastic bandages
